Complaints Received by the TCW

 

The incidence of crimes against women in Tripura during the year under report was lowest, only 6 per cent, among the tribal women. During the year the rate of violence against women accounted for 53 per cent among the women other than ST/SC/Muslim, 30 per cent among SC women and 11 percent among Muslim women (Table 1.3 in Appendix).

 

 

Out of the total number of complaints (729) received by the Commission regarding violence against women from places under different Police Stations (PSs) of Tripura during the year under consideration, highest number of complaints was received from the areas under the PSs of West Tripura District (579) followed by places under the PSs of South Tripura District (87). The number of complaints received from areas under the PSs was lowest for Dhalai District (19) followed by areas under the PSs of North Tripura District (44). Out of the total complaints received from areas under PSs in West Tripura, highest number of complaints was received from the jurisdiction under Women PS followed by jurisdiction under West PS and Bishalgarh and then Amtoli. Number of Complaints received from areas under R K PUR PS was highest among PSs of South Tripura followed by areas under Belonia PS. For North Tripura, places under Kailashahar PS and for Dhalai, places under Kamalpur PS recorded for highest number in this regard (Table1.4 in Appendix).
