Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan
On 27th July, 2007, as Chairperson of the of the core committee of Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, Dr.Tapati Chakravarti, Chairperson of the TCW had presided over the two-day State level Sammelan of Elected Women Representatives of the State who assembled together at Panchayati Raj Training Institute, A D Nagar, to debate, discuss and deliberate on the issues that effect them as Panchayati Raj representatives. She called upon the women, people’s representatives present in the conference to become the voice of the women in need and assured that the TCW would extend full cooperation to this important programme being carried out in the effort for strengthening the
PRIs.
Felicitation of Stree Shakti Puraskar Awardee
On 29.03.08, the Tripura Commission for Women felicitated Smti Monmohini Debnath, the Awardee of National Award ‘Stree Shakti Puraskar’ for the year 2008 for her contribution in Pannchayati Raj Institution as Pradhan of Gram Panchayat since 1994. UPA Chairperson and Congress Party Chief Smt. Sonia Gandhi gave away the Stree Shakti Puraskar to Smt. Monmohini Debnath of Tripura on 8th March, 2008, the International Women’s Day, as recognition of her achievements in the field of empowering women. Women of Tripura feel proud of her because it is for the first time a woman from Tripura, who has been working for people at the grass root level, has been selected for such a prestigious national award.
The Commission had organized the felicitation function in its newly constructed Conference Hall which was inaugurated by the Awarder, Smti Debnath. Women representatives from all walks of life were present in that meeting.
